George Hazard was born and raised on a farm homesteaded by his great grandfather in Deer Park, Washington.  Although he continued to farm until retirement he always felt drawn to express his love of the land and the surrounding nature in another way.  In his middle years he started painting, taking lessons from a local artists and the nearby college.  Once he started painting, he never stopped.  Painting with oils on canvas is his media of choice.

George retired in 2002 and became a snowbird and lives 6 months in Yuma, Arizona, which gives him more time to devote to his painting.

George's work has been featured in a number of juried exhibitions, shows and galleries and he has won several awards.  He belongs to Mountain Shadows Artists Association and teaches oil painting to all ages in both Deer Park and Yuma.
